Mark does Illustration Friday: "Climbing."

SLENDER LORIS IN THE TREES

The slender loris is a magical little prosimian of the Asian rain forest. While my picture might suggest this loris is jumping, in fact they do not leap. They are, however, fabulous climbers. For more information see Duke University Lemur Center.

Acrylic on canvas.

Lovely, related to lemurs? Looks nocturnal, anyway (maybe lemurs are only on Madagascar).

Lorises are prosimians so more closely related to lemurs than to monkeys. Yes, nocturnal and insect eaters. Please, look at the Duke Lemur Center website for great photos and a good fact sheet. I have not tried youtube but it would be nice to see if they have some examples of these little characters climbing! They are very strange but lovable. Mark
